How to Be More Motivated When You're Just Not Feeling It

Can’t get motivated to do anything? Here’s some motivation for your day.

Do you have the inner-drive and motivation but can’t seem to harness and put it into action consistently? I know that feeling. Some of the most motivated people in the world in some way experience similar situations. But, it’s okay! After all, we are human.

Keep reading to find out how you can Behave More Bravely & take control of your life and actions rather than your actions taking control of you.

So, you may ask yourself “how can I make myself more motivated when I’m just not feeling it, when I’m down, or even when I’m lazy?”

Trust me. It’s common for among a lot of my clients. And, it’s becoming more and more common as we’re all practicing social distancing during COVID-19. This means for you, your ability to keep motivated is being test to the fullest during these difficult times.

A lack of motivation complemented with bad habits are the two best enablers.

A lack of motivation complemented with bad habits (see my article here to learn how you can kick those bad habits while at home and in the office) are the two best enablers. They’re like partners in crime!

You think that you’re always motivated, and you think you know how to obtain motivation … do you really know how to jumpstart yourself? Obviously, the answer to this for you is muddy because you wouldn’t be reading this far.

There are some keys that you need to really hone in on to help you with motivation.

But, how do you know that you’re actually practicing consistent motivational tactics? If you’re single or living alone, this can be a hard thing to realize, so pay attention:

Step 1 Divide and conquer your grand goals: Make a decision on what your goals are for the day, for next week, this year, and even next year—it can be personal goals or professional goals. I like to put some goals down that are attainable not only in the long run but in the short run too. I think it is very important to have our wins along the way. It is positive reinforcement for us to continue moving forward.

Break your big goals into parts. Set yourself benchmarks. Accomplish the smaller goals to give yourself mental rewards: Small goals lead to your overall grand goal. You’ll build confidence with those small victories—a requirement for accomplishing the grand goal.

Step 2 Adopt the right attributes: What attributes do you need to adopt in order to make yourself be success in the day-to-day life. Is it to practice more patience, perseverance, or self discipline?

Realize that as long as you keep tracking along and you are practicing growth mindset qualities, you are going to get there. It’s all about consistency.

Step 3 setup an inspiring environment: You are a product of your environment. Is your environment set up to support your motivation, goals, and happiness? Take a look.

You should be inspired with your space, colors, emitting energy, and temperature. It’s a foundation for your motivation to grow and a key element to making you feel energized and connected with your goals.
